What is Emotion-Focused Therapy?

Emotion-focused therapy (EFT) is a collaborative approach that positions one's emotions as the primary pathway for therapeutic change. As the name sounds, it is very much focused on the contributions of emotion to the human experience. In EFT, you can expect to transform your emotional experience, make new meaning, and create positive lasting change.

Emotions can feel overwhelming, confusing, and as if they 'come out of nowhere.' My role as a therapist is to help promote the awareness, acceptance, expression, regulation, and transformation of emotion. I provide therapy in a neutral and comfortable setting where you can feel at ease and open to learning about your emotional experience. As I facilitate this environment and support, you will have the opportunity to identify and implement the changes you need.

When EFT is used in conjunction with other types of treatment I have found it to be extremely effective. By learning to use your emotions as a guide you will feel more confident in strengthening yourself, regulating your emotions, and creating new meaning. This, in turn, will help you deepen your relationship with yourself and others. I am here to help you succeed in treatment by way of empathy, support, and guidance.
